KSU Physicals Day - Save the date for April 17

Athletic Physicals Day for high school and middle school for 2010-11 athletes will be held at Kennesaw State University on Saturday, April 17. Cost is only $20 for an athletic physical, which includes an echocardiogram! More information will be provided in an upcoming Weekly Word.

Upcoming Open House - Thursday, March 25

Our next Open House is scheduled for March 25, 2010, in the Grand Lobby of the Murray Arts Center. The open house is for all grade levels.

The preview session will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the opportunity to meet with MPCS staff and visit the arts and athletic booths. We will then settle into a formal session at 6:30 p.m.

Share the date with your friends and family and share the opportunities MPCS has to offer!

Jeans Day - Friday, March 26

Friday, March 26, is a jeans day for MPCS Mission Trips. Please wear jeans and bring a minimum donation of $3 to benefit the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica summer mission teams.

Standardized Testing - Begins March 15

The annual standardized testing program will be administered March 15, 2010 through March 23, 2010 during parts of each day. Make-up testing will take place on March 24, 2010 and March 25, 2010 for any student who missed parts of testing due to illness. The Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) will be administered to students in grades one through seven and the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) to grades one, two, three, six and seven. Fourth and fifth grades will not take the CogAT. For those grades in which both tests will be given, the ITBS will occur before the CogAT. Each grade level has its own testing schedule so that all classrooms in a grade level complete the same sections of the test each day of the testing period.

While students cannot study for these tests, they will do better if they have adequate sleep, a nutritious breakfast, and come to school with a positive attitude toward testing. Please stress the importance of doing one�s best, but be careful not to create undue anxiety.

Please make every effort to have your child at school on time each morning, as no student will be allowed to enter a testing classroom once the test has begun. Please try to arrange any doctor/dental appointments on other days. Also, please send two sharpened #2 pencils with your child each day of the testing and an appropriate book to read upon test completion.

New for 2010-11: Eagle Adventure Zone

Eagle Adventure Zone, our after school care program for ages PK-fifth grade, is excited to offer a new option for parents in fall, 2010. We will offer an hourly rate of $10.00 until 4:00 p.m. If your child is enrolled in after-school activities such as ballet, chess, etc., we will get them to those activities on campus. Eagle Adventure Zone offers a fun place to play, complete homework, snack, and participate in many other activities. Please contact us at extension 1202 for more information.

Referral Credit

MPCS is starting a referral credit program called "Family to Family." Click here to read the flyer and learn more about the Family to Family program.

Family to Family's purpose is to recognize those who share their MPCS story by providing a "family referral credit" in the amount of $100 to the account of any current family for each new family they successfully recruit to MPCS.

Eagle Backers Golf Tournament

The Eagle Backers (athletic booster club) invite you to participate in the upcoming Eagle Backer Golf Tournament to be held at the Marietta Country Club on April 26. This will be a wonderful opportunity to fellowship with others in the MPCS family while raising money for MPCS athletics. Eagle Backers receive a discount, and everyone is encouraged to come enjoy a great day of golf!
